This project is born from collaboration and solution-oriented design thinking to fix a guest bedroom near a pool for hosting. It created the perfect harmony between the home and its surrounding environment.
Overlooking the Accra plains from the elevated Aburi mountains, this beautiful classic home needed a guest bedroom with a contemporary sway that suited the taste of foreign visitors the clients often entertained.
The choice of glass and wood as core materials sterned from their intrinsic properties as insulators and also the relatively cold weather, humidity, and dry end of years presented the perfect opportunity. The open façade is predominantly glass and ionised coated steel to prevent rust. Located in the NE part of Aburi, the natural northern light beams through the majority of the home as the private room orients towards the valley’s southern views. This guest room is a reflection of the receptive & open arms nature of the owners with an outdoor pool summing it up.
- Contemporary Design: The guest bedroom should reflect a modern and contemporary aesthetic, creating a harmonious blend with the classic home’s overall ambiance. Sleek lines, minimalist furniture, and tasteful decor will be used to achieve this objective.
- Insulating Materials: The use of glass and wood as core materials serves two purposes. Firstly, their inherent insulating properties help maintain a comfortable interior temperature. Secondly, they offer a visually appealing and natural aesthetic that complements the surrounding environment.
- Integration of Natural Light: The design should maximize the abundance of natural light, allowing it to flood the guest bedroom and create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Proper orientation and placement of windows will ensure that the room is bathed in sunlight during the day.
- Southern Valley Views: The orientation of the private room should capitalize on the breathtaking views of the southern valley. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty of the surroundings, creating a sense of tranquillity and connection with nature.
- Reflective of Owners’ Hospitality: The guest bedroom design should reflect the warm and welcoming nature of the homeowners. It should be a space that embraces guests with open arms, providing comfort, privacy, and a sense of luxury.
- Outdoor Pool: As a bonus feature, the guest bedroom’s design should seamlessly integrate with an outdoor pool. This will offer guests a refreshing and relaxing experience, further enhancing their stay in this beautiful mountain setting.
